this is the first of two paintings inspired by the 'Africa Remix' exhibition.  Here the content is primarily African craft; motifs taken from textiles, with a colour palette expressing the richness and vibrancy of the original objects.  The painting has affinities with the 'grid drawings' but here a 'handmade' curvilinear diamond grid is used to contain the imagery.
