LEAVES FROM GIVERNY

Pen and watercolour on handmade paper

760 x 620

This painting was inspired by a leaf of the Acer palmatum - Polymorphum picked off the path in Monet's garden at Giverny.  Hatched-in drawings of the leaf are configured with the random content of leaves and seeds in the handmade paper.  The tonal and colour variations suggest different layers of the picture plane.
